Bourbon Lemonade Recipe

What is the number one liquor drank by dads? Bourbon! Now of course that’s up for discussion, but I have seen some men get pretty hefty after a 1.5 oz cup of bourbon. Bourbon is one of those liquors that has a million and one sub-genres, from barrel proof, to small-batch to rye and many more, bourbon will make any dad dance his blues away.

The Bourbon Smash Lemonade is a perfect drink for anyone who is just discovering bourbon and is scared to try. It has a delicious combination of sweetness and bitterness to keep your stomach happy.

First, fill a tall, chilled if preferred, glass with two lemon slices. Muddle the lemons into the bottom of the glass to press out as much juice as you can. You can use a spoon if you don’t have an actual muddle.

Second, add 1.5 oz of Four Roses Yellow Label into your glass and mix with a spoon. Four Roses Yellow Label is a great bourbon to start with and is fairly cheap, starting at $12.99. Four Roses Yellow Label has two different mash bills, aka ingredients, that are used to make their bourbon. The Four Rose description says that one is labeled recipe “B” and is 60% corn, 35% rye, and 5% malted barley. The other recipe is “E” and is 75% corn, 20% rye, and 5% malted barley. Both of these recipes are used for this bottle of bourbon, making it extra daddy.

Third, fill your glass halfway up with ice and squeeze simple syrup in. It’s under your discretion on how much simple syrup to squeeze in. The more you do, the sweeter it will be. To make simple syrup, simply boil one cup of sugar and one cup of water until the sugar is dissolved. After chilling the simple syrup it is free to use.

Finally, add lemon juice and water into the glass until it’s full to make it an authentic lemonade.

Bam! There you have it. A delicious lemonade that will make you feel a little boozy. Getting to experience bourbon in a delicious way is such a treat. All the dads drinking it neat are missing out.
